help me out pretty please

so i'm teaching a clothing workshop next week for a ward in highland and i need some help deciding what to teach. i can go anywhere with it but i always want people to walk away knowing more than they did before, therefore i want to do a good job. i am just wanting to know what my blogging buddies struggle with, if there is anything. it will help to give me some direction. SO, what is your biggest frustration with your wardrobe?
clothing workshop

is it just not knowing what to wear? do you struggle finding the right shapes for your body? really just want to know what colors look good on you? confused about what your style even is? wish your wardrobe was a little more fashion forward?
let me know!

p.s. if anyone responds with "all of the above", that won't really help me....

I think wearing the right clothes for your body type would be my hardest thing. I never know if something is really what I should be wearing for my body type!! Hope this helps you out and good luck!!

it's hard right now because i'm huge and pregnant. but BEFORE baby, i remember that i wanted to feel really confident in what i was wearing. this didn't mean that i had to look fabulous all of the time. but i wanted things to fit me right, meaning highlight the good parts of me, while at the same time allowing me to be myself and feel cute. so, the right fit and the right clothing items for my shaped body would be nice.

all of the above.
oh wait, you said don't do that. hmm..no really i do. i think for me though, it is finding the right shapes for my body, and also figuing out what the heck my style is! it would be nice to know, like what does not go with what, and what does go with what. especially when it comes to accessories. is a scarf too much if i am already wearing a colorful blouse? what is acceptable? sigh. i am not good at this. i need lots of help...

I have two main struggles come to mind...

1- I feel like I have a lot of cute things that could go together in my closet... but I just don't know how to piece them together well. I always wonder, does this color look ok with that color? Does this shape match this shape, etc. I could probably have a much cuter wardrobe if I just learned to piece what I already have together.

2-There are a lot of trends that I like, but I just don't know if "I" can pull it off. For example, I like a nice pair of flat boots and when I see them on other people, I think they are adorable. And then I put them on and get all insecure and think that they look silly on me. I don't know if this is really a question, but I guess you could somehow work with it?

Hey Brit! Can I just say that I love that youre doing this and I love your pretty visage blog! You are amazing. My main struggle is that I have a lot of clothes but once I find an outfit that works well I keep going back to it again and again. I would like help pairing OTHER items together to make my wardwrobe go even further. Does that make sense? Also, I would love your address...would you mind emailing it to me? alexa.ayers@gmail.com :) Hope youre doing well!

I think a good thing to talk on would be putting together outfits and also what colors and shapes look good on you. Have fun! I would love to come listen, you have great style :)

I agree with Jessie, I would like to know what clothes work with my body type and also I have a lot of things that I am not sure if you could put certain articles of clothing with other things without it being to much... does that make sense!! Hope this helps out a little!! SO wish that I could come to your class!!

i need to know how to find good looking mom clothes. like, that outfit you put together is so cute, but there is no way in hail that would survive a day with my children.

I think my problem is I just never know what to pick out and so I always revert back to the simple jeans and tee shirt. I think my closet holds lots of potential but I just dont know how to put cute things together so I always end up wearing the same 8 outfits.

How to transition from style to style. I feel like I am sometimes still stuck dressing how I did in high school and need to grow up. But I need a trendy "grown up" style : )

Hmmm... I'd say my biggest struggle is one of two things:

I feel like my wardrobe needs more basics. I feel like lots of stuff I have isn't basic, which makes it hard to pair stuff together. You could teach a lesson on great basic pieces to have in your wardrobe.

Or, lots of times while shopping I find something I really like and buy it, but then get home and realize it isn't me and I don't LOOOVE it. I hate when I do that.

So, we should totally go to that movie together Britt, great idea :) I have lots of babysitters in Orem for Cohen... cause he would not do well at the movie ha. I'm coming to Orem a couple times in November so I'll let you know so we can plan it okay!

oh britt! this is great, i am so excited for you to do that! you will do GREAT & everyone will LOVE you!

1.you can't go wrong with teaching about what to wear for certain body shapes and helping them understand that fit is sooooooo important. i loved when you taught me that.
2. i find myself wearing the same things over & over.uh. annoying. getting new ideas of what to pair with what would really help me.
3. i am fascinated by finding colors that look good on me, but it is really hard for me sometimes.

question-do you still have that cute jewelry wall holder thing you had (at your house in orem) when we were at snow? i want to make one and was wondering if i could look at yours.

Hey I’m from highland!! ... Fun!

Each new season I get a little stressed out about my wardrobe. Thinking I need everything off the shelf in the stores! Showing women how to mix and match there existing wardrobe with new trends of the season. It’s very practical to give advice on how they should be wearing there existing clothes. And, which new stylish pieces would really give there wardrobes a HUGE makeover with just one or two purchases!
... Now that I write that down... I’m not even sure if that is possible to tell them that. Without seeing there own closets! Eh I couldn't do what you’re doing!
Good luck!

my biggest struggle is that i'll see something on somebody and LOVe it, then i'll try something similar on, or even buy it, and then not feel truly satisfied because i dosen't suit my body type, etc... i don't relly understand the concepts of what clothes emphasize my body type best. that's what i would want to learn about!

michael. mindy. dane. said...

oh. and my other problem is that i don't even know what matches. i'm not an idiot. i used to think i knew, but nowadays people wear pink with orange or blue with green and i'm like, does that match or not? i just don't know. i would wear a black shirt with jeans and black shoes. then staci and clinton (what not to wear) say you need color. so they do a blue shirt with green shoes? or something? sometimes i think it looks good and sometimes i don't. i never know what goes together. needless to say, after both comments, my wardrobe is QUITE boring.

ug. i just looked and my first comment did show up! but here's what i said (basically)

i have problems with all of the above. i always think stuff looks cute, but i don't think i can pull it off. my main problem is not knowing what my style is. i don't want people to wonder what i'm trying to do with what i'm wearing, so i stick with boring t-shirts.

and, like chloe, i never know what is too much? like the scarf and colored shirt thing she talked about. i totally agree!

and. i am so NOT responsible. i'm the least responsible person i know.

and i don't think you were prying! srsly. no boys comment on my blog. how rude.

Hey Brittany! I just came across your blog a couple weeks ago. We have some of the same friends (Anna, Mindy, Shawnee) and we went to EFY together a LONG time ago :) Totally blog stalker... so I thought I should comment!
My biggest problem is seeing something that looks cute, then I try it on and it looks bad! I guess that would be body shape kind of thing. Also, how to make different pieces work together to form a great outfit! Good luck, you will do great!

one thing that I really struggle with is wanting to be trendy, but still keep my personal style and what looks best on my body. I have no idea how to do that. I feel like I don't know how to wear the trendy things...I keep reverting back to the same stupid outfits that I wear ALL THE TIME. Hope it helps, good luck!

There are so many cute styles out there, but I feel just clueless as to how to put an outfit together so I end up with a plain t-shirt and jeans. It's so frustrating! I don't know how to shop for my body type or put a whole outfit together with jewelry, shoes, and all that!

Good luck with this, it sounds like it would be fun to attend!

For me it is two things
1. knowing what peices to invest in to have a "complete" wardrobe. You know the stuff thats not the funnest to buy but that you need.
2. personal style issues. i like so many things but when it comes down to what i'll wear its another thing. I need to sit down and define what my style is and buy accordingly.
hope that helps

funnest isn't a word... I know.:)

oooh can I come? I missed the one in our ward that you did earlier this year, and I live pretty close to highland now. I need all the advice you can give. okay I know you said not to say that, so I definitely wish my wardrobe was more fashionable, and I need to figure out my own style! :)
