i can't believe what just happened to us. first of all i just have to say that i haven't felt this kind of rage for a stranger in who knows how long. UGH so this morning i follow grant to brent brown to drop off the truck to get some stuff done. then i take him to walmart to run in and grab a few things (i was still in my pajama's). so as i pull into walmart i'm looking for a place to drop him off. in the front, there is a vehicle in front of those yellow lines that people walk across to enter the store and another car on the other side. SO since i'm only dropping him off, i stop on the yellow lines (crosswalk). while he gets out and goes inside, i'm on the phone just minding my own business when ALL OF THE SUDDEN, i hear this big thud on the hood of the car, i look over and there is this old man YELLING at me while SLAMMING HIS FIST ON THE HOOD OF MY CAR!!!! he hit it at least three or four times and is just telling me to MOVE OUT OF THE WAY because this is where people need to walk!!! oh my gosh, my blood is starting to boil while i type this. anyway so without even thinking, i open my mouth and yell at the top of my lungs... "DON'T TOUCH MY CAR!!!!!!!!!!!!!". EW. and his response? he gives me the HUGEST glare, extends his arm out towards me AND FLIPS ME OFF!!!! yes, flips me off. then he turns around and walks back in the store. before i go on, i just have to say that ya know being annoyed at me for parking there (even though i wasn't even there for TWO MINUTES) is one thing but flipping me off and hitting my car??????? come on! SO, dun dun DUN. i call grant. tell him EVERYTHING. and for the next ten minutes, grant is literally running around walmart trying to find this old man (wearing a plaid shirt, glasses and gray jeans) so he can chew him out because he was soooooo mad.
this is the picture grant sent me to make sure he had the right guy before he chewed him out.
he finally found him, walked up to him and asked the old guy if he just hit a girls car and flipped her off. the old guy knows EXACTLY what he was talking about and denies it by trying to pawn it off that he was just a witness and that it was somebody else. grant then proceeds to tell him that he fits "his wives description exactly". the old man tells him that "we don't have a problem and i didn't do it" while grant then responds to him with "NO, if you flipped my wife off then WE DO have a problem" ugh... so grant left him with a few choice words explaining that if it really wasn't him then there's no problem. he called me back and told me to keep an eye out for him, just to make sure he approached the right guy. later i see mr. sneaky come out from the OTHER entrance and walk across the entire parking lot while looking over his shoulder every couple minutes. i immediately called grant back and he totally just ditched his shopping cart and ran to the parking lot. it was only within seconds that grant was then hitting the hood of his car. it all ended with grant yelling at the old man and him still insisting it wasn't him.
that was our trip to walmart today.

Oh my gosh! What a jerk! I can't even believe that someone would do that. I park there all the time when I pick up and drop Matt off. EWWWW, I would have been SO MAD. I think it is so awesome that your sweet husband chased him down, told him off, and banged his fists on his car...heehee.
Hahahahaha! I am so sorry I shouldn't be laughing, but I just keep picturing that man looking behind his shoulder and denying it! I would be SO livid too. Seriously? What is wrong with people? Why be unecessarily mean, especially if it isn't going to fix anything? What a jerk. I am so sorry! I love how Grant took a picture and sent it to you though! That is so something we would do. i hope that your next trip to walmart is better! (maybe next time go to Target) :)
First of all....my blood was BOILING as I started reading your story. I seriously get the worst rage with stuff like that. But by the end I am cracking up laughing imagining Grant hunting this man in Walmart and then banging on the hood of HIS car. HAHAHAHAHAHAH I seriously love it. Don't worry I would have done the same thing!
oh man that made my blood boil too. and i usually love old men. and what grant did is exactly what jamie would have done so it makes me kind of smile too. i'm sorry that you had to deal with that.
Hahahaha... oh my gosh. That's hilarious/horrible.
My favorite part is when he was denying it and was trying to say that he was a witness. And when he tried to avoid you by going out the other exit.
I hope he learned his lesson that he can't get away with stuff like that!
I can't stop laughing about this story. i totally would have been raging if this happened to me, but i can picture it all happening and it is fabulous. you guys are so great~!
gosh this is funny! i just have to laugh. you guys are cute
This made me laugh, I can totally picture your reaction. Haha Britt you crack me up. Good job at getting him back.
Oh wow...choice man. Thanks for the laugh...I know you probably weren't laughing at all, but I love how grant tracked him down and took a pic of him. People...honestly.
Haha! I love that you posted this on your blog. I would have yelled at the guy just like you did! Way to go Grant!
I just posted a comment on the video link of that little boy busting out some moves and then it was gone, weird.
Anyways I'll try to repeat what I put the first time. What a total grumpy loser old man! What the freak! I hate moments like that where your stomach flips over and over because of someone being mean. I LOVE LOVE LOVE the way Grant reacted though! Perfect! Way to take care of your wife! Sorry this happened.
We have to be friends because we are just to much alike not to be :) We went to the circus too we may have even gone on the same day! Weird. It was so much fun though huh! We seriously felt like we were 5 again! Love those types of things!
Oh my gosh, i can't believe that! What an exciting morning huh, you have a good husband to take care of things for you, i'm sorry!
Britt I love you and your adventures. We need to talk sometime. It's been too long.
And this is why we love Grant.
Ha ha ha that story is hilarious! I love having cute husbands to watch our back and do the dirty work! Yea for grant!!
I am laughing out loud! I'm gonna make Ricky read this later. He thinks Grant is da man. (He obviously is for hunting that man down!!) He has a man crush on him! Tee hee.
I hate this story. I hate that that man did that to you. I hate that he is at home probably thinking that you and Grant are the problem, not him. Most of all I hate that I was sitting at home while all of this was going on thinking that Grant was going to be arrested! Can't everyone just be nice and love one another?! Please!!!
I don't want to be unreasonable. But maybe chasing that old man down and yelling at him wasn't the best way of going about it. Maybe he was having to go pick up medicine for his wife with Alzheimer's and after dealing with it for 15 years, he was just plain sick of it. Maybe he wasn't able to sleep the night before because he has a bad bladder. Maybe he was sad and lonely and just having a bad day and maybe he is someone's grandfather, and father and son. Maybe going out of your way to make someone, who clearly did an unkind thing, really sorry for it, isn't the way we should go around treating each other. And, maybe we shouldn't be looking for ways to "stick it" to each other.
I'm not saying he was right for what he did, but I'm not sure escalating it, and forcing the issue really helped anyone out. I almost guarantee that after the feelings of vindication subsided, you felt a little empty. Maybe we should be more careful in our interactions with each other and not answer cruel actions with equally cruel responses. I'm just saying.
my husband would have done the EXACT. SAME. THING.
although i am TICKED for you, and nobody has the right to touch your car, let alone flip you off... its kinda funny, right? (maybe in a few days it will be....)
of course paige! its totally funny!
Gompo,
I appreciate the interest you have shown in helping us realize that we aren't as good of people as you are (whoever you are).
Bottom line:
-How is it your place to teach us how to act, don't judge.
-Your words are condescending
-Every other comment feels the same as us - never should a man flip-off a woman--let alone MY wife.
-Chasing him down and beating on his car wasn't the most "Christ-like" but I was defending my wife's honor and I would do it again in a heartbeat.
Grant Barnes
man, grant is such a weiner.
Britt, I just had my husband read that and I'm pretty sure your husband is his new idol:)
