one big concern was making sure that the table was sturdy, especially since the wood cracked so easily because of being so old. grant pulled some tricks here and there and by the time we flipped the table over... we just laughed because it was SOOOO heavy and definitely DEFINITELY stable. :) he had to call a friend to help load it into the house from the garage, i could barely lift it from the ground.
we are buying a clear vinyl tablecloth to put over the table for meals. people always ask about getting slivers. we didn't want to sand the boards down because that would take away from all the reasons we bought this type of wood in the first place (color & texture). those flowers are from my birthday (aren't they so pretty? and ginormous?!) i'm so excited to have this table for the coming years. and i think the best part is that it was built by grant. makes it so meaningful. i love to just sit and look at it.
this post was linked up to multiple link parties but with all the errors that went on, they were erased.
so now i don't remember which ones i chose!

I love your table! It looks great. Way to go guys
all i have to say is WOW!!!!!! not only is your kitchen and all of your decor straight out of a magazine, but your table is AH-MAZZZZING!!! i cannot even get over it!! i just want to steal it and put it in my dining room!! haha. i love making your own things because you know that you are going to be the only one with that piece...its just a good feeling!! your house just looks way too cute!!
ok & girl i am feeling your pain right now!!! i remember when i was at the point and i just wanted to hold my baby in my arms!! i was so sick of feeling fat & uncomfortable...it was awful! obviously though it was the most rewarding thing ive ever done & immediately after i saw kruz i said to nick, "he was so worth it, i would do it all over again!!" anyways, what i would do if i could do it all over again is honestly just sleep as much as you can, like a TON because you will def need all of the energy you have & its nice to have a little me time too! also, after the baby is here you will have your hubby to run and grab anything you are worried that you might forget so dont worry about that either. one thing that we have been using the most since the baby has been here is a wipe warmer...it is the best invention ever!! kruz loves it & it keeps him from screaming from the shock of cold wipes!! another thing is get a boppy (im sure a bunch of people have told you this), but i got the "balboa baby" one instead and totally regret it... its not as comfy & is shaped wierd! i feel like i just wrote you a novel and its totally late so im sure this is making NO sense whatsoever & everything is probably a typo, but i had to write you a few pieces of advice of things that ive learned!! oh & drink a TON of water...i retained so much water it was crazy and i really wish i would have drank more because it helps so you dont get so swollen!!
amazing. It is beyond perfect. Way to go!
What a beautiful table, you are very talented!!

I am SO impressed! I can only imagine all the work and creativity that went into this beautiful table.
We're in Maine right now and this table seems like it would fit perfectly in the adorable homes we've been seeing while we drive through the streets. It's absolutely perfect. Tell Grant great job!

Also love how you paired it with those metal chairs. Verrrry nice. :)

Great looking table, Brittany and Grant! Having deconstructed 100-yr-old barns to repurpose the wood, I can attest to the fact that old wood like that weighs a ton!
I'm so glad you found the cottage and decided to link to the party. I would love to have you participate each week.
By the way, I just joined you as a follower. Be sure to stop by tonight, and see your table featured.

Where did you get the hydrochloric acid?
So you're table is awesome...but I've been looking through blogs for color ideas for our new house. Do you know by chance what color grey your walls is called? We're thinking we may use grey and yours is just dark enough to contrast well with white trim, but light enough to make the room seem open.
