happy october!
we are pretty excited for halloween this year. we're ready to pull out the costume box and all the fall decor! this is such a fun time of year. time to wear boots and cardigans, burn yummy smelling fall candles, easy dinners (soup), hot chocolate ... snuggling in blankets is just way more satisfying etc. kinda wish i would have gotten a bit of a tan in the summer since it's getting cold and i didn't feel i could really take advantage of the sun. oh well i guess. anyone out there a fan of self tanners? if so which ones? also i've been doing a lot of cleaning lately, what did you do with your wedding dress? random i know.

"pumpkins scream in the dead of night"

grant and i are finally starting our costumes tonight. just like every year... we wait until the very end. and then it's a very stressful two weeks because we are cramming and have to get every little detail just perfect ;). if any of you out there are having a halloween party or know of one.. please invite us. we put so much work into costumes... and then sort of NEED A PLACE TO GO!
other than that we are taking some family pictures this week that i am super excited for. and yes family as in me and grant. i don't know any guy who actually really likes getting his picture taken but grant is such a good sport. and i TOTALLY take advantage of it. i have a feeling that it's going to turn out to be more of a photo shoot. there is no way that i can narrow it down for us to only wear one outfit. also grant had the swine flu for a day. but apparently that is kind of common? maybe i'll get it too? i was supposed to stay away from him. ya right.

PUMPKINS!!!
We had a party for Troy's birthday and carved pumpkins.
As you can see we've got two guns and a bat and then a high heel.
The guns were carved by Teri and I.
ha. Just kidding.
Anyway of course Grant and his amazing do everything perfect skills carved the most perfect gun, I on the other hand created more of a witch shoe.
We later cooked up some pumpkin seeds and they were so yummy!
So thanks for the seeds guys!

In case anyone has noticed.... Grant's hair is getting really long.
By the time the 31st arrives.... he will look EXACTLY like his Halloween character.

more to come...

The Next SEVEN months!
We are trying to speed up to present time...so I'm just taking matters into my own hands and trying to recap the last seven months. After getting married, Halloween was shortly after. Grant and I decided to dress up as Peter Pan and Tinkerbell. Because we wanted to make our costumes, I wasn't quite sure they would really turn out... but after many trips to Savers and D.I. (and my mom's sewing machine), I think we pulled it off! We had so much fun. Here are some fun pictures-

We spent Thanksgiving in Utah with my family and sadly I have no pictures :(. For Christmas we decided to cut down our tree. We picked a cute little tree. Definitely a little sparse but it made for some added visual interest. We kept it healthy with an old family recipe and we were sad when we finally took it down.

The Barnes home (in Cameron Park) is up for sale so for Christmas we lit the last Bon Fire there on Christmas Eve. That is the way we light the way for Santa. The fire was so so SOO big and SOOo hot!

As the new year started we really began to get super busy and saw less and less of each other. Grant went on lots and lots of rugby trips and SO I got to spend a lot of time with my girlfriends.

But even though rugby, work and school took up a lot of our time we really made the most of the time we had and ALWAYS went out on the weekends. For Valentines Day we spoiled one another and had a wonderful night eating some yummy Indian food.
Before March had come and gone there was one last event that we were counting down to... The Festival of Colors. Besides having our throats filled with chalky paint with a result of raspy voices.. it was so much fun!! Here are our Before and After pics and then some-
At the beginning of April I quit my job and started preparing for a few trips for Rugby tournaments and our recent move to D.C. And we will blog about all those soon!
